25 June 2010

This morning has a number of little popcorn storms quickly moving across the area on the easterlies.  There exist a tropical wave, INVEST 93L 100 miles offshore Honduras near Belize.  This wave has a moisture envelope, the northern fringes of which we are seeing today.  The increased PWAT will enhance the little easterly popcorn storms.  We have a persistent ridge off in the Atlantic, which has been providing the impetus for these easterlies.  The gradient between that and the wave is to enhance our rain chances.  The bulk of moisture is expected to arrive overnight into tomorrow. The NWS has us up to 70% rain chances Saturday.
